How does the starting wheel work?

Start the adventure and spin the wheel. The official help says the wheel chooses one of 29 classic starters and gives it to you at level 5. The starting result is the Pokémon you build around, rather than a species selection menu.

The video’s opening sequence shows a Treecko result. The transcript mishears the name as “Trio”; use the visible Pokémon name rather than turning the transcription error into a separate species.

What should you inspect after the spin?

Read your starter’s current health, move names, PP and type. Then look at the bag and connected stops. In the filmed first battle, Treecko has Pound, Leer, Leafage and Absorb; those moves are an example from that run, not a complete starter database.

How do you plan around a random starter?

If a reachable wild encounter offers useful coverage, compare it with your team before spending a ball. If health or recovery is the urgent problem, examine reachable shops and campfires. These are conditional planning suggestions, not a tier ranking of the 29 starters.

A full current starter list and a tested reroll strategy are not provided here. The wheel count and level are documented rules; the video demonstrates only its own starter result.
